Principal's Report

The end of Term 3

It is almost unbelieveable that we have now been in Remote Learning for all of Term 3. I would like to thank every person in our community for their work this term. All staff are so proud of the work that students have undertaken in Term 3. The growth in independence is one highlight of this term with students taking more and more responsibility for their learning.

Term 4 will begin with everyone still in Remote Learning with our P-2 students starting back in Week 2.

I will provide families with more details around arrangements for Term 4 later this week where possible, or during the first week of Term 4. In summary, we will have a staggered drop off and pick up, however we will have all of our P-2 students on site by 9am each day (one group dropping off at 8:45am and one group dropping off at 8:55am) and then having pick ups happening at 3:20pm and 3:30pm. We are putting things in place to provide students with additional learning supports and other arrangements for the Term.

For our 3-6 students, I am very hopeful that we will know by the end of the school break if students are likely to return on or by October 26th as per the Victorian Government Roadmap. Again we will be looking to provide families of these students with information around learning supports we will have in place, learning priorities and structures we will have to support our senior students.

2021

If you are enrolling a younger sibling at MPS for 2021 I would ask for you to do this as soon as possible to assist us with our planning.

Similarly, if you know that your family will be leaving MPS (Other than our Year 6 students) at the end of 2020 it is equally important for you to let me know as soon as possible. For our school a reduction of one or two students late in Term 4 (and there are times where as a family you may not know until very late in December) can drastically effect our funding and planning for the following year. I would ask that if you know already that you will not be at MPS in 2020 please email me: neil.butler@education.vic.gov.au as soon as possible.
