Hello everyone,

This month I had the opportunity to attend the College’s Immersion Day with representatives of the College Board and Family Connect to engage with the Principal and his leadership team to discuss present and future opportunities in a positive and open manner.

The day went quickly but one of the highlights was the face to face interaction with students and teachers of the College during our “learning walk”, the energy and enthusiasm of not only the students we spoke with but the professionalism of the teachers involved is a credit to all involved.

Importantly for members of the College Board and the Family Connect was the discussion in relation to the School Annual Improvement Plan and the work done to date in developing the College’s Strategic Direction for the next three years.

If parents and caregivers are interested in finding out more please take the opportunity to attend one of our meetings (two left for the year – 20th October and 17th November AGM).

In closing I would also like to share that Family Connect has with your support provided financial assistance to a number of events this term, including the Inaugural Rugby League 7’s Gala Day, the NQ Cross Country Championships, Vicki Wilson Netball State Championships and Queensland Secondary School Tennis (QSST) Open Boy’s Team. Family Connect will also be offering financial support to the SMCC Junior & Emerging Confraternity 9’s carnival which will be hosted by St Teresa’s Catholic College, Abergowrie in Term 4.  While this year has generally provided limited opportunities, Family Connect will continue to support individuals and teams when and where we can.

I hope you get to enjoy and make the most of this September break with your families and loved ones.

All the best
