Principal's Message
Wayne Wood
Principal
To our St Mary’s Community
We enjoyed a very full, productive and smooth Term 3. In other years, we can be excused in reading this as a routine comment from the Principal. However, in the context of this year, I call on you to consider the significance of this statement and the related achievement of our St Mary’s community. We can all be very proud of the way we have all worked this term.
Students have had many opportunities to shine in their respective areas and I wish to thank our staff for their commitment to our students and their creativity in bringing these opportunities to life.
HUGH O’BRIEN CENTRE REDEVELOPMENT
After many months of hard work, we are in the final stages of planning in what will be a significant building project for the College. It is all very exciting! We look forward to sharing these plans with our community next term. We anticipate building to commence in December for what will be a 10 - 12 month building period. Stay tuned!
TERM 3 REPORTS
Reports will be uploaded to the Parent Portal on Friday 18th September. The value of this feedback is not in receiving it, but what you then do with it. I encourage parents and carers to talk to their son or daughter and assist them with their goal setting for Term 4.
VICKY WILSON CUP
On behalf of the College, I wish our Senior Netball Team the very best as they depart over the holidays to represent the Cairns region at the Vicky Wilson Cup in Brisbane. St Mary’s earned the right to compete at this carnival due to their strong performance in the local competition. I take this opportunity to especially thank our coach, Kerrily Tindall, for her dedication to St Mary’s netball. Thank you also to Leeshay Marsh who will also travel down with the team.
SCHOOL FEES – FAMILIES EXPERIENCING HARDSHIP
Since March of this year, the College has continued to communicate to families that we are committed to supporting families who have been financially impacted by loss of employment or income due to the current economic downturn. We continue to offer this support, knowing that the impacts of the economic downturn are ongoing for some in our community. If you are concerned about your fee account, please contact us so that we can discuss the various ways we are helping families in this situation. In the first instance, please contact our Business Manager, Mr Hugh Bradridge.
FAMILY TIME
On behalf of all staff at the College I wish all families a relaxing, safe and happy holiday. Holidays are a wonderful time for families. Whilst many parents may not have time off during these coming weeks, it is still a wonderful opportunity to share with your children and grow as a family.
May your holidays be filled with encounters with your God in the expected and unexpected.
God Bless
