Dear SMPPS Parents and Carers,

Every year The Children’s Book Council of Australia hold a book week to celebrate the wonderful books and authors around Australia. The theme this year is ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’ and it will be held between the 17th and 23rd of October. 

During the week our students will be involved with engaging Book Week activities at school and reading the finalists for the Book of the Year Award. 

On Monday the 19th of October, we will be hosting the Book Week Dress Up Day and Parade. If your child would like to join in, they can dress up as one of their favourite book characters. We encourage students to dress as a character from a book, rather than a character from a book adapted from a TV show, movie or video game. 

Some costume ideas are The Gruffalo, The BFG or a crayon from ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’!
