Outdoor Learning with Room 7

Students in Room 7 have been busy assisting with gardening duties at Hampstead Primary. So far this year they have helped with weeding, planting, watering, compost and landscaping. This week they helped with some landscaping and helped to create a border around the garden to protect our plants. Outdoor learning presents valuable opportunities for students learn about sustainability and taking care of the environment.

Outdoor Mathematics - Data and graphs

Students have been using binoculars to do some bird watching outside. They identify which species of birds they see using a chart. This week they have worked in pairs to collect data using a tally system to find out which birds are most commonly seen at Hampstead Primary. Using this information, students were shown how to generate graphs using Microsoft word to represent their findings. Students in Room 7 are becoming more confident in navigating digital technologies for their learning, as they discover new ways to represent their knowledge and ideas.
