Inclusion and Diversity in Sporting Clubs

The 6 month workshop program with sporting clubs in Boroondara finished in July and we're now finalising our Club's action plan.  We're excited to finally be able to turn this work into some activities, here are some key elements of the plan:

PROJECT GOAL

Be a leading hockey club in inclusive practice,  by providing a one club culture, whereby juniors, seniors and masters teams are inter-connected and socially cohesive.

CLUB POLICIES, PROCEDURES AND PRACTICES

Access Health and Communities will help us to audit all our current policies and practices with a view to streamlining and ensuring they encourage inclusive behaviour.

INCLUSIVE PRACTICE EDUCATION

We will explore potential speakers and authors to present on inclusion and diversity, mental health and other arising issues, either in person or using a webinar or podcast platform.

CELEBRATE AND PROMOTE INCLUSIVE PRACTICE AND DIVERSITY

Social media posts will include more features on how our club celebrates diversity.  We'll also continue to establish partnerships with key stakeholders in the industry e.g. Headspace, Proud 2 Play, Boroondara Council.  We'll hold our own match day event in 2021 that recognises inclusion and diversity.

Naturally, we'll always be seeking feedback along the way.  We want to know what you, our members, think we can do better, and what you are interested in!

Please feel free to email us if you have any questions or would like to be involved:
