What's been happening?

Foundation

The Foundation children have settled nicely to school routine and lots of learning has begun. We have been learning about our positive behaviour framework, ‘Respect Everyone and Everything’, ‘Do Your Best’ and ‘Help Others Succeed’. There has been lots of discussion about what this looks like at school and what we have to do to achieve these expectations.

This term, in Religious Education, we are exploring the children’s unique identity. We will be discussing the talents and gifts that God has given each of us and why we are special. One of the questions we will be asking the children, to explore is, why they were given their name? At home, you can discuss this with your child so they can share their findings with the class.

During Maths we have been practising counting, looking at numbers and making collections.

Shortly, some sight words will be sent home with your child. These words can be made into games such as memory or snap to assist your child in familiarising themselves with common words.

Just a reminder, readers are to be read nightly and changed daily.

In order for your child to sustain energy throughout the day, we encourage healthy food to be packed in their lunchbox.

Enjoy the learning journey,

Kate and Laurel.

Sorry Day

Community Members, from local elders to primary school students gathered for breakfast on Wednesday 13th February in the Queens Gardens. This annual breakfast is an acknowledgment of Kevin Rudd’s Apology to the Stolen Generations 11 years ago.

Some of St Anne’s College students and staff were there in attendance.
