Radio Goo Goo

I first got involved in the new radio Co-Curricular in Term 3 this year after my friend Ethan told me about it. I listen to a lot of radio and had wondered what went into putting a show together and what it would be like being in a real studio. It sounded like fun so I arranged to come along for a look one night. I had a lot of fun so signed up.

We do it every Thursday night between 6pm and 8pm in the Pheonix FM studios in Strathdale. There is a room that we can sit in when not on air and we usually eat food and plan our segments and shows. Ethan and I have a show on gaming (and Mr Hodda even helped us make our own theme song). People often send us requests on our Facebook page so it’s fun to jump on-air and say hi to friends and family. When I first heard myself it was awkward but now I’m getting better at it and sounding a little bit better each week. Next year we will be taking on some new team members so if you think you might enjoy this Co-Curricular and you are free on Thursdays, you should contact Mr Williams. If you just want to listen and see what it is like - tune your radio to 106.7fm or stream us online (pheonixfm.org) between 6pm and 8pm every Thursday. Or jump on the Facebook page and send us through your requests or ‘shout outs’ to your friends and family. Last week we had our first promotion which was free tickets to a show at Ulumbarra!

I really like being involved in Radio Goo Goo and would recommend you tune in every Thursday evening.
