Week 9

Despite it being the end of the term, we have been very busy in our classrooms.  This week we have put some of our procedure work into practice and made a variety of items- from chocolate balls to Christmas craft.  On Thursday we had a ‘moving up day’, when the students worked with their new teachers and classmates for 2023 in their new classrooms.  The students (and teachers) had lots of fun with their learning and reacquainting themselves with old friends in the classroom.  Everyone has also been very busy practising for their end of year performance and the stage under the COLA has become a popular destination point.  We are looking forward to showing off all of our talents next week at our annual Awards Assembly and celebrating our achievements.

Kindergarten

This week, Kindergarten has been enjoying the Christmas season! In Religion, we have been learning about the most important story ever told which is the Christmas story.  We have acted out the story and also made our own artworks. We learned that Jesus was born in a stable and slept in a manger. Kindergarten made this beautiful wall display and some angel ornaments to decorate our class Christmas tree. In other news, the classroom elf has been up to mischief yet again! Today we found him enjoying a book club with our fellow classroom toys. What will he be up to next? We look forward to another fantastic learning week in Kindergarten.

Stage 1

This term in Science, Stage 1 students have been learning how to be more conscious of using Earth’s resources. They have been trying to reduce, reuse and recycle resources in the school. Last week, Stage 1 walked around our school surveying the amount of rubbish in the school and found 70 pieces of rubbish. To make the school more aware, the student created posters to remind others to put their rubbish in the correct bin.

Stage 2

This week we have continued looking at writing procedures with the focus on recipes. On Tuesday, the students made some delicious English muffin pizzas. They had to listen to verbal instructions and implement these steps to correctly make the pizzas. From this, the students then published their recipe by including the ingredients, equipment used and a step by step guide. Well Done Stage 2. Miss McDonald and Mr Beaumont.

Stage 3

In Religion, Stage 3 have been exploring the elements of Advent, and how it is a time to prepare for the coming of Jesus. During this time, we are reminded that Jesus is a symbol of love, hope, faith and joy. We looked and thought about the words that Prophets such as John the Baptist used to spread the message of God to others to help with their belief and faith. The students chose words and phrases and created a word art as inspiration for people to remember for next year. Wonderful work Stage 3!
