ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS’ REPORT
ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS
Paul Dawson and Bradley Headlam
Brad Smallman and Sarah Bridges
As we approach the end of the 2022 academic year, it is timely to reflect on the many positives we can celebrate as a school community.
As students, families and staff returned to onsite learning, we renewed friendships and learnt once again how to navigate the school day. Many of us are ready for the summer break!
Students in Junior and Middle Sub Schools were recently acknowledged for a variety of awards, including upholding school values, always trying their best and supporting others. The College Awards Night presented an opportunity to showcase the academic achievements of outstanding students, including high performing Year 12 students. Congratulations to all students who strived to achieve their best throughout 2022.
As we wish our Year 12 students all the very best as they transition to the next stage of their lives, we also welcome new Year 12 students to our family. Extra transition sessions were held for those students needing additional support and I think we can all agree that Winston the Robot was a hit with his cool dancing moves. Over the main two days of transition, students met their new classmates and teachers, learnt about timetables, raced around the school and enjoyed a snag off the BBQ.
Staff are busy planning for the 2023 school year and one of the new initiatives is staff training in the Berry Street Model. This model provides strategies for teaching and learning that enables teachers to increase engagement of students with complex, unmet needs and to successfully improve all students' self-regulation, relationships, wellbeing, growth and academic achievement. We are completing the four days training over the next 12 months.

REPORTS
Students and parents will receive reports via Compass this week. Students need to sit down with their parents and set themselves goals for the 2023 school year, with a focus on areas that need improvement and strengths that can be developed further. Reports need to be utilised as a feedback tool and as a valuable source of information to ensure improvement occurs.
2023 DATES
- Wednesday 25 January: all booklist orders will be dispatched by Australia Post
- Monday 30 January: Years 7,11 and 12 start school
- Tuesday 31 January: All students at school
SUBJECTS 2023
This is a reminder that over the break, family discussion might result in some questions around your child’s subjects and pathways. Interests and ambitions can change, we are aware of this and hence permit changes up until the end of the first week of school. All subject changes must be accompanied with some pathway justification and parent sign off. Please be mindful, however, that there is limited flexibility with choice, as many of the classes from 9 to 11 are quite full, therefore, there aren’t any guarantees.
