Parents and Friends Community News
Hi everyone,
Before we head off to get into our stretchy pants and daggy Christmas t-shirts so we can eat our own body weight in turkey and brussel sprouts let’s have a peek at what 2022 looked like for PFC.
Most importantly we raised $72,000 as a community this year. That is outstanding and thanks to those extra dollars in the coffers we have been able to truly launch the new playground project. More on that in a mo.
So how did we do this? We put on 13 separate events, sold nearly 1000 gifts, ran over 3000 laps of the oval, drank copious cocktails, had over 150 parents and students volunteer their time AND (drum roll please) cooked over 6000 sausages.
Our events this year included:
- Mother’s Day Lunch
- Easter Egg Raffle
- Mother’s Day Stall
- Father’s Day Stall
- Two Election BBQs
- Lapathon
- Dad’s Footy
- Encore Extravaganza parent night
- Four Fun Lunches
It’s been a big year and there are way too many people to thank. But, we do want to say a massive thanks to all the parents, friends and carers for volunteering their time, energy and enthusiasm to help us put on these events. We cannot do it without you. Also to all the businesses who sponsor us, provide gifts for auctions and free ice cream. What a wonderful community we have. A special mention here to the very generous Slavica Josmoski (mum to Jimi in 2D and Mila prep 2023) who made the most beautiful cup cakes for the State Election BBQ which Ulrike kindly sold on our behalf and raised $140 for the school.
Playground Project Update
Our working group has been going great guns. This week they are attending school to hear from students in several classes who have been doing a unit of enquiry relating to the new playground space. The working group is presenting a slide pack to the students of various play space pictures to gain their reactions and enthusiasm. The teachers have also been consulted for their feedback and ideas on how the current equipment and space is used and how it could be improved. There is also a new contractor coming to school this Friday to survey the space and provide their design concepts on how to better use the play spaces. After this we will be able to put a design brief to contractors. We can’t wait to see our new playgrounds in 2023 - an exciting time for our school.
