Learning and Innovation
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope”
Romans 15:13
Learning at Brigidine is centred on our desire to foster in our girls a love of learning that is lifelong. In doing so, we aim to provide a range of learning experiences that allow our students to flourish and grow as learners and young women. Throughout 2023, students will continue to be challenged and empowered to learn and grow as women of strength and gentleness.
Learning is a relational endeavour and the start of a new academic year is a time to reestablish existing relationships and forge new learning relationships with teachers and peers across all classes. These relationships may require some time to develop and flourish. I know that as teachers we are designing lessons that will enable us to get to know the learning strengths and needs of each student in our classes so that we can be responsive to the interests, abilities and skills of the diverse group of learners we have been entrusted with.
As relationships are reciprocal, the coming weeks are also a time for students to intentionally engage in class, to keep an open mind about the subject and content and to step into the academic challenges that they are presented with. They are encouraged to engage with their teachers, discuss their learning preferences and ask questions as they encounter unfamiliar concepts and content. It is this interaction with peers and teachers that will be fundamental for a year of learning, growth and success.
Year 7 2023
During the Year 7 Bootcamp in Week 2, I spoke with the girls about setting up for success in a high school learning environment. The tips provided are applicable to all and students are encouraged to keep these in mind as they strive to achieve their personal best in 2023.
Class of 2022 - High Achievers
On Friday 3 February we celebrated the feast of our founder, St Brigid and as a community, we also had the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the successes of our Graduating Class of 2022.
The success we celebrated last week was a recognition of much work and considerable effort by members of the Class of 2022 and the many parents, teachers and fellow students who supported them.
I would like to take this opportunity to again congratulate our Distinguished Achievers for 2022. Their tenacity and dedication to learning despite the challenges of 2021 and 2022 was extraordinary. The 2022 HSC High Achievers are listed below.
