Student leadership in 2023

As we move towards the end of the term the year 5s are starting to prepare for leadership opportunities for 2023.  Our Grade 5 students are busy writing and preparing to present their speeches to their teachers and peers on Dec 5th.  After a voting process, the top four students will proceed to become School Captains and then the other students will have a further opportunity to demonstrate their leadership skills in applying for a House Captain position.  I would like to thank all of our Grade 5 teachers for the extensive preparation work they undertake in preparing our Grade 5 students.  I would also like to thank all of our Grade 5 students for the confidence and risk-taking they show by putting their names forward for leadership roles – we have some great role models amongst our Grade 5 students, and we are very proud of their efforts.

Concert celebrations

We are all looking forward to a number of special events which are getting closer in the coming weeks:

  • The Y6 Concert Showcase will be held in the school hall this coming Thu 1st Dec.
  • The YF-4 Concert, Groovin’ on the Grass will be taking place on Friday December 9th from 3.30-5pm.  The concert will be held outdoors on our oval.  Parents should bring a picnic rug to sit on and snacks to enjoy.  Each of the F-4 year levels will perform an item.  Our School Captains will host the event and it will be a great opportunity for them to display their public speaking skills in front of a large crowd.
  • The Y6 Graduation, Thursday 15th December on the oval 4-5pm. Other celebration arrangements following – Y6 families refer to Graduation Committee communication.

December Hamper Food Donation – Salvation Army

Once again, this year we are joining with the Salvos to help provide Christmas hampers to families in need within our community. To have these hampers delivered in time for Christmas we are calling for food donations and items used for celebration to fill these hampers. Donations can be left at the office up until Dec 7th.

Students will enjoy a dress up day on Wednesday 7th December, 2022; dressing up as something from their favourite celebration (or in green and read). Instead of a gold coin, everyone will donate an item of non-perishable food that could be put into a hamper.

The Salvation Army will attend CEPS on December 9th at the start of Groovin on the Grass to accept our generous donations. Thank you in advance for your support of this worthy cause.

2023 class arrangements

As with all schools, the transition from one year to another comes with a change in student population due to a number of factors.  Schools accept enrolments and families move to new locations, both which impact the following year’s class sizes.  We are currently not taking further enrolments in larger classes.

As we did this year, next year, we will have some year levels with 27 students in a class. The supports that were put in place this year will once again be utilised, with additional teaching staff timetabled in classrooms.

Should you have any further questions, please visit us and speak with either Leisel or Josh.
