Community Update

Time to celebrate our Kilvington Volunteers

Bianca Lapins, Community Relations Officer

Did you join the other 200 volunteers earlier this year to help put on an epic Centenary Fair and Open Day for our community? Flip a sausage at a PFA sausage sizzle? Provide refreshments at the Senior and Junior School Productions, or help set up and sell gifts at the Mother’s Day or Father’s Day stalls?

We want to recognise and appreciate each and every contribution, so if you've volunteered your time, either for a short while or over multiple occasions, we'd love you to join us at the Volunteer Thank You Evening from 7.30pm on Tuesday 21 November.

What: PFA Volunteer Thank You Event

When: 7.30 - 8.30pm, Tuesday 21 November 2023

Where: Multipurpose Room, Sport Centre

RSVP: For catering purposes, please RSVP via Trybooking here by Friday 17 November.

This event will take place immediately after the PFA AGM from 7.00 - 7.30pm, also in the Sport Centre. Please feel free to join us for this event too. Better yet, put your hand up for one of the PFA positions. It’s a fabulous group of parents from all year levels and is lots of fun. You can find out more here

School TV Special Report - Discussing War and Conflict

Children are frequently exposed to distressing news through the 24-hour news cycle and social media. These experiences can provoke anxiety, especially in young minds still forming their worldviews. Parents and caregivers should be mindful of overexposure to such content as it can lead to symptoms similar to post-traumatic stress disorder.

Before discussing these topics with your child, it is also important to assess your own emotions and comfort level. By staying calm and providing physical comfort will help your child regulate their own emotions. In challenging times, compassionate adults play a crucial role in helping children cope with anxiety and providing hope and understanding in our complex world.

This special report provides guidance on how to tackle this difficult topic and helping children understand there is still hope in our complex world. Please take a moment to reflect on the information offered, and as always, we welcome your feedback.

If this raises any concerns for you, a loved one or the wellbeing of your child, please consider seeking medical or professional help. Here is the link to your special report.
