EXAMS

Congratulations to all students in Years 9 - 11 who have completed in-class exams in recent weeks. These important assessment tasks provide students with an opportunity to demonstrate their learning this semester; this will greatly help them prepare for the challenges they will face in Year 12. We encourage all students to look beyond the overall grade, carefully consider their strengths and areas for improvement, and act upon the feedback provided by teachers.

VCE ORIENTATION WEEK

All students undertaking VCE studies in 2022 will begin their work next week by attending Orientation Week classes in their chosen subjects (commencing Monday 29 November). It is critical that students attend all orientation classes with a commitment to work hard. Participating in Orientation Week and completing all holiday homework is essential for establishing solid foundations for success in 2022. Students are required to wear full school uniform.

JUNIOR SCHOOL BOOKLISTS

Booklists for 2022 can now be completed online through Campion Education. The link is on the College website or can be accessed here. If prompted, the 4 digit code is 28P3. School pick-up will not be available in late January due to Covid-19, so if families would like their orders home delivered during the summer holidays, the online process needs to be completed by Wednesday 15 December. Campion has included a set $10 charge to cover the packing and home delivery costs. Families need to create an account on the Campion website (if they don't already have one).

For families interested in buying/selling secondhand books, information about the Sustainable School Shop can be accessed here (this link is also on the College website). Please ensure you check the edition of the book on the booklist before purchasing any second-hand texts.

END OF YEAR ARRANGEMENTS

Families have been contacted about end-of-year arrangements for students in the Junior School. Classes will continue up until Friday 10 December, although we have organised some onsite programs/activities to help engage and support students in their learning after what has been a challenging year. More details can be found on the Compass newsfeed.

In the final week of the year, the College will be conducting Presentation Assembly rehearsals and filming on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 December. Students involved in this event have been notified. The last three days of the year (Wednesday 15 - Friday 17 December) are staff curriculum/planning days and no normal classes will run.

GRADE 6 ORIENTATION - TUESDAY 7 DECEMBER

As has already been communicated to Year 7 families, the Grade 6 Orientation Program is taking place on Tuesday 7 December. This event means that current Year 7 students will not be required at school on this day.

COMPASS NOTIFICATIONS/EMAILS

We have recently been informed by Compass about some functionality changes to their communication processes. As such, we will now be able to send emails and push newsfeed notifications to all parents, regardless of family structure. We believe this is a useful improvement because it will help keep all parents informed about their child’s involvement in the school.  If you do not wish to receive school communications from Compass, please contact the General Office on 8520 9000.

ELMS 2022 NOTIFICATIONS

All applicants have now been notified of the outcome of the recent ELMS Entrance Tests for Maths and Science.

If you have not received this information, please contact Peter Quinn (qui@mckinnonsc.vic.edu.au) immediately.

We thank all students who undertook this important program.

CLASS CHANGES 2022

Due to the broad curriculum program we offer students at McKinnon, class changes for students year to year is inevitable. Whilst we do our best to minimize class changes, especially after the interrupted year we have had, in many cases this is simply not possible.

We thank you for your understanding.
