Principal's Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Further to the announcement that schools will return to a week of remote learning from tomorrow, learning materials will be sent home today, for the week ahead.   For students in Prep, 1/2, 2/3 and 3/4, their activities will be paper-based only.  Students in 4/5 and 5/6 will require access to a device to support their learning. If your child does not have access to a device at home and has not brought one home, please contact the school.

As a school activity, this means that the planned Cross Country event for tomorrow, will also be postponed to a later date.  More information will be provided when we receive it.

As in previous lockdowns, over the next week we will be providing onsite supervision for vulnerable and children of authorised workers only.  Bookings for this service can be made here  Please ensure, if your child is attending onsite, that they bring their learning packs to school with them.

As briefly mentioned at Friday’s assembly, I am delighted to confirm that our school was one of 52 schools to be included in the Victorian Government’s capital building project as part of last week’s 2021/22 budget announcement.  The 2.3 million dollar investment is targeted towards the upgrade and modernisation of Block C (closest to Lakeside Avenue) and will be delivered with the support of the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) and the Department of Education and Training (DET) Regional Office.  It is expected that these works will be commence within the next 12 months and I will continue to keep you updated as we work through the planning process.

Thank you to the many parents who came along to last week’s Music Performance with the Prep, 1-2 and 2-3 classes.   Over the last two terms, all classes have been developing their performance and audience skills, so it was wonderful for students to have their families share in their learning.  Our sincere thanks to Emily and congratulations to all the students on their performance.  At this time, we anticipate a second performance day, for students in Years 3/4, 4/5 and 5/6, will be held on Friday 18th June.

This week, students in Years 3-6 participated in the first of four free Netball clinics with Netball Victoria.  The program is a great opportunity for our students, with a strong focus on building skills through drills and games.  Our thanks to Chaye Crimmins for her delivery of this program and to all students for their enthusiastic participation.

Our thanks also to Jade and Aiden who joined us this week as part of the Mount Beauty Secondary College Work Experience program.  Over the week, both students have been working across the school, to provide additional assistance to students and a welcome helping hand to staff.

We always love a dress up day and today was no exception.  Thank you to everyone for their support of our fundraiser, which raised $114.70.  As a result, we now have sufficient funds to donate our first backpack swag and sleeping bag.
