ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

As you will be aware, we are once again returning to remote and flexible learning from Monday 31st May to Thursday 3rd June. This definitely isn’t something any of us want, but we have been here before and we know we can get through it. While past lockdowns due to COVID-19 have brought a great deal of uncertainty for parents, teachers and students alike, the lessons we have learnt place us in a strong position to continue your child’s learning remotely.

Today our teachers have been at school busily preparing the remote learning needs of our students. Books have been sent home and online systems are being set up. If your child was not at school yesterday, please make contact with their teacher and we will organise to have their learning resources left at the entry of the school to be collected. Teachers will be in contact via email with any further directions so please keep an eye out.

While we hope the work set over the next week can be achieved, we understand the pressures that families are under and that schoolwork may not be the priority every day. My advice is to do what you can and make contact with your child’s teacher via email for any support needed. We are in this together and are here to help.

As with other remote and flexible learning periods, our school will provide on-site supervision for students in the following categories:

  • Children where BOTH parents and/or carers are authorised workers who cannot work from home, work for an essential provider and where no other supervision arrangements can be made:
    • Where there are two parents/carers, both must be authorised workers, working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision
    • For single parents/ carers, the authorised worker must be working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision.
  • Children school believes fit into the vulnerable category

Please remember that these circuit breaker restrictions are about the safety of our community. We will welcome and support all students that need to be at school but please support our community by keeping your children home unless they must come to school.

Stay safe and we will see you on Friday 4th June.

Ben Hawthorn.
