Principal's Report
Principal's Report
Dear Parents,
Parents should have received information on booking Parent/Teacher interviews. These will take place in the last week of this term: 22-25 June. Interviews will be in our school hall or on zoom/telephone as parents prefer. Student reports will be available for download the week before P/T interviews from the parent portal on Sentral from Wednesday, 16 June. I encourage all parents to meet with their child's teacher to confirm progress and areas for development in the second half of the year. Class teachers will have all information, including maths groups progress for Years 4-6. Parent/Teacher interviews are available for class teachers only.
This week work began on construction of new cricket nets for our school. The design has included flexible use for a range of sporting activities. Boys and girls will be encouraged to participate in activities to develop throwing, catching and batting skills. The cricket nets will be divided into two sections with a retractable centre net. There will be a synthetic grass surface to provided all weather activities. The cricket nets will be ready for use in term 3.
There has been a large amount of student interest and lobbying to have cricket nets installed in the playground. Our SRC and many individual students have written letters and discussed their preference for cricket nets. Our student voice has been heard and we are able to follow up these ongoing requests. Everyone is looking forward to the new addition to our playground in term 3.
NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK; 27 May to 3 June.
National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
The dates for NRW remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.
Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We are slowly getting back to regular routines in our school. Assemblies are now open for parents. This week our Year 1 and K-2R students had their first excursion to Featherdale Farm. There are some great photographs of our students with the animals in this newsletter. They had a great time.
Winter is now with us and the cold weather requires winter uniform. Please make sure your children are in full uniform each day. This includes jumpers, jackets, beanies and scarves. All are available online at the school uniform shop.
Regards,
G. Walker
