Junior Class - Mrs Creek

Week 9 started with a holiday. I hope you all enjoyed some family time. On Tuesday, the class had Mrs Bell supervising them for the day whilst Mr. Dalgleish and I had an on-line conference. With this being the first time for the F-1 class, you will be proud to hear that all students followed class routines and learning respectfully. Our shared story is the favourite, ‘Red Riding Hood’. All the students loved joining ‘oh what big ears, eyes and TEETH you have! Fortunately for the wolf, he didn’t get killed by the woodcutter. And Red Riding Hood tried not to stray from the path again. We have had a special focus on syllables again. Every word has syllables and every syllable has vowel-like sounds. This helps readers and writers to decode unfamiliar words. We would also like to thank Tessa for sharing her holiday scrapbook with us this week.

Middle Class - Miss Williams

This week the Year 2s and 3s have continued to learn about information reports. We have been reading an informative book about elephants. In reading we have been looking at the features of informative texts and looking at their diagrams and images to help support the information we have read. We learnt that elephants eat 170kg of food a day, in which they eat over two thirds of the day. The other third of the day they spend sleeping, bathing and relaxing. In writing we have also been writing information reports. We have been learning that we can gather information from more than one source. We have been using our elephant book as well as the internet to find information on elephants and write an information report. In maths the class has been learning about subtraction.

Senior Class - Miss Walker

This week we have been focusing on an informative piece about Burrunan dolphins. We learnt how they were classified, where they live, their size and appearance and habits. This work has transferred across to our writing unit where we are writing information reports. In Maths, some people have been working on shapes and some revisited multiplication of decimal numbers. In integrated studies we have been continuing work on explorers and creating timelines.

Little Joey

This week we continue to acknowledge the significant role of the "Brown Joeys" in the establishment of St Patrick's School, and recognised Kaw Mu with a Little Joey awards.  Our Little Joeys receive a certificate, sticker and a voucher/goods donated by a local business.  We are very grateful for the contributions from our local businesses.
