New STEAM Centre

Proposed STEAM Centre
Proposed STEAM Centre

As part of our progressive capital works program, we will commence our next exciting building project in mid to late 2021.

On the current Library site, we will develop a three-level state-of-the-art STEAM Centre, where learning, innovation and entrepreneurship will be supported by contemporary spaces for science, robotics, systems engineering and media.

There will be casual and formal learning spaces and project collaboration areas. The School Library will also be rebuilt on the ground level.

What a wonderful and exciting development for the School! We will undertake a Fundraising and Community Engagement Program towards the end of the year. In the meantime, if you would like to discuss a contribution, whether it be Naming Rights or a donation, please contact Deb Duce, duced@kilvington.vic.edu.au.

On 14 March, we officially (albeit informally) opened our new play space along Katandra Road. It was announced that following a consultative process with students, it would be named Discovery Grove. A perfect name for our new fun and interactive space for our younger junior students!

Matilda The Musical - Senior School Production

The Greatest Day Arrived - finally! Due to COVID, it’s been two years since the Kilvington community has enjoyed a live production. So, the opening night of Matilda The Musical was met with great excitement and anticipation. And it did not disappoint! The hard work, passion and energy given to creating this spectacular show by the cast and crew was evident from the opening number of Miracle.

Matilda
Matilda

Renae Bekas was wonderful as Matilda. She delivered a poignant performance of a child dealing with relentless and painful rejection by her family, only to lift us up throughout her performance with her resilience and inner strength, cheekiness and extraordinary gifts.

Mr Wormwood
Mr Wormwood

Veteran of the stage, Xavier Clark, is brilliant as Matilda’s cruel and indifferent father. His many comedic flourishes left you conflicted, particularly as he leaves us hopeful at the very end that perhaps he cared for his daughter, just a little.

Mrs Wormwood
Mrs Wormwood

Perhaps the surprise of the evening is the discovery of the talented Elena Stuckey de la Banda as Matilda’s self-absorbed and ditsy mother, Mrs Wormwood. Her performance was utterly captivating and left you waiting impatiently for her next hilarious and perfectly executed performance.

Mrs Trunchbull
Mrs Trunchbull

David Overton, as the terrifying Mrs Trunchbull, was electric. She stomped around the stage in a relentless rage while the ensemble of ‘kids’ trembled or thought up ways of turning the tables on the beastly headmistress.

Miss Honey
Miss Honey

The sweet and caring Miss Honey was performed by Leah Stange perfectly. She reflected deep sadness and fear with a desperate drive to protect Matilda, whose life painfully mirrors her own childhood. Her performance of My House was breathtaking.

Congratulations to the outstanding performance of the Support Leads: Matthew O’Leary as the Escapologist; Natasha Redlich as the Acrobat, Joanna Mitsaris as Lavender, Lucas Kallio as Michael Wormwood, Charlotte Glassel as Mrs Phelps and Jack Campbell-Manley as Bruce. Special shout out to Hugo Della Bosca as Rudolpho.

To the dancers, ensemble, children and orchestra, take a bow! And to those behind the scenes who gave hours to ensure that our students had the opportunity to share their wonderful talents, thank you.

Welcome back Kilvington productions. We’ve missed you.
