WELLBEING

Biggest Morning Tea 2021

On Thursday the 27th of May, St Agnes’ hosted the Biggest Morning Tea. This year it has been our fourth year hosting it. This year’s Biggest Morning Tea was extra special as we were able to remember our friend George Billington who lost his life to cancer, but should have been in Year 6 this year.

This year each student decorated a flower that has been placed in the hall and each student wore a touch of yellow to remember George and other people affected by cancer. We also organised a special raffle to raise more money for the Cancer Council. St Agnes would like to thank the following local businesses who generously donated vouchers to our raffle.

Woolworths, Chiseled Hair, The Little Elephant, Keith’s Bakery, Ferguson Plarre, Bakers Delight, Century Beauty and Amcal Pharmacy.

There was an overwhelming number of people who purchased raffle tickets, however only 3 could win. The winners were:

  • 1st Prize - Ms Smith
  • 2nd Prize - Paige and Lily Tsoukalas
  • 3rd Prize - Mrs Grace

So far we have raised over $800 which is over our target and is amazing! We are still counting and checking our fundraising page and can’t wait to share the final number with you that we will be able to donate to the Cancer Council on behalf of St Agnes.

We would like to thank Ms Miller, Mrs Georgiou and the Social Justice Captains for organising this day, we couldn’t do it without you.

Young Leaders Day

On Monday 24th May Jorge, DeeDee and Mrs Georgiou went to the 2021 National Young Leaders Day Conference in the city. During the day they heard from influential people like Jimmy Rees, Josh Pyke, Jordan Lewis and Lachlan Smart who was the youngest person to fly around the world in a plane solo. They spoke to them about what it takes to be a leader. Jorge and DeeDee learnt that no matter how many people put you down, keep trying and you will reach your highest goals.

Each person that spoke to us taught us an important life lesson, and a story about their career that supported that lesson. We were taught to take opportunities and its okay to make sacrifices to shift to new realities, to never give up no matter how low and embarrassing it can be. The one and only Jimmy Giggle from the well known ABC kids show “Giggle and Hoot” taught us if we are passionate about something go do it but make it you, and add your specialties to it!
