Campus Stories

Yes Minister!

We were privileged to have Mrs. Kennedy-Parker from the WA Electoral Commission visit us in class Tuesday 10 March 2020. As part of the Year 6 Civics and Citizenship program she focused on Australia's three levels of government, as well as our preferential voting system.

Thanks Mrs KP for visiting! It's always a blessing.

Sophie's a Winner!

Sometimes it's nice to have a special gift or surprise delivered - and for Sophie (Year 3) it happened last week.

Each year, those students who have their stationery ordered and supplied through Callows Newsagency, go in the running to win a prize pack. The lucky winner for 2020 was Sophie!

We hope you enjoyed your gifts.

Cadets Camp - Story 1

Our Cadets program has been successfully embedded into our school curriculum for decades - and it's one of the most popular option choices for our Secondary students.

The first of our Tribal Camps headed off just over a week ago, ready to engage in some brilliant learning opportunities that are proven to develop leadership, resilience, teamwork and life skills.

Mrs Wright was our roving reporter, and she  provided us with some images of camp and the location.

It was a wonderful few days the students will remember for a lifetime.

Foreshore Fun

Each year, the younger students in our Primary school head to the iconic Busselton Foreshore for their annual beach carnival, and it was an absolutely perfect day to be playing in the sand.

Thanks to Miss Nolan for her organisation of the event, and to the amazing team of parents who put their hand up to help out. We are grateful for you all!

Emerging Leaders

Last week we were privileged to be part of the inaugural Emerging Leaders Forum, a partnership between Busselton and Dunsborough's Chambers of Commerce, the City of Busselton and staff at Cornerstone Christian College. A team of presenters were on site, working with our students on a range of engaging activities that are focused on our community, and in particular, the upgraded airport.

It was a brilliant opportunity for participants to develop skills in collaboration, teamwork and presentation techniques that will come around again in December.

It's the start of something very exciting.  Special thanks to Mr van der Tang for his significant part in this endeavour, and also one of our parents, Emma Morgan, who has been pivotal is delivering the event.

Good hygiene

The Primary school students have been investigating good hygiene and the importance of carefully washing hands. A great lesson for any time in life, but especially meaningful for this particular season we are going through.

This little experiment helped demonstrate the difference washing hands can make - and we hope it will deliver some great habits moving forward. Well done, Primary team!

Cadets Camp - Story 2

The Cadets Camp continued, with this material provided on Day 2 by Mrs Wright:

'A beautiful morning starting with a warm drink then devotions by the water. A great breakfast before heading of to our rotations. Giant supps on the dam, a great walk to the rapids and some art in camp. Tribes are preparing for the great ‘concert’ tonight. Year 12 mascot has been busy this year joining in with all the activities.'

Who would rather be anywhere else?

Constable Care

Constable Care had a visit to the Dunsborough Campus last Thursday. They discussed how to empathize with others and treat others with respect through their interactive plays.

According to Mr Bernabe, the incursion was very valuable.

'It was great. Some Years 4-5 even got to play main character roles in their show. It goes well with our treasure theme, as our students are also learning about ways they can treasure one another.'

Playing Chicken!

The Year 1 class has had one special addition to their group in the last day or two - a chick has hatched!

Kenzie's well cared for egg has produced a gorgeous little chick, which all the class is getting to enjoy.

Welcome little one!

YWAM

YWAM was on campus last Thursday, spending time with our Senior Secondary students. Their youthful enthusiasm, engagement and capacity to connect with students is always a welcome use of time.

Thanks for coming!
