Principal's Chat

Wow 2 weeks completed already, how time seems to fly.  Many thanks to all the staff, students and families for the support shown to me at the beginning of term, I really appreciate it.

Community Mass

Sunday August 4 is our next community mass at 10am in OLSC Sports Centre.  We encourage as many families as possible to join us on Sunday morning.

Out & About

Many of our students were out and about in the local & wider community: Year 3/4's visited Woolworths, Year 4 experienced the first of their Outdoor Education Days in Anglesea & a team of Yr 5/6 girls represented our school in the Victorian Netball Championships.  Thanks to all the teachers and parents who made these outing possible & well done to all the students on representing our school with pride. Check out the Learning Centre News page to see what they got up to.

Term Overviews

Term 3 overviews are included on the Learning Centre News page of this newsletter.  The overviews give you a snap shot of what your child/children will be learning over the term.

Spelling Champions

On Friday we held our annual Spelling Bee competition for Year 3/4 & Year 5/6.  This competition is voluntary and it was a credit to all students who stood up to take part, they are definitely all winners.  After many gruelling rounds I have great pleasure in announcing our Spelling Champions for 2019.

Congratulations to  Hamish, Year 3/4 champion & Lorrie, Year 5/6 champion.  Both of these students will now represent OLSC at the annual Wyndham Spelling Competition on August 29.

Spellathon

On Monday all students will bring home their words and sponsor form for our annual Spellathon.  This is a major fundraiser for our school so please get behind our students by helping them practice their words and sponsoring their efforts.  All money raised this year will go towards updating and repairing the student's Chrome books & iPads.

Learning Conversations

This week is a big week for all students and staff with Learning Conversations happening. It is vital that all parents book in for a learning conversation to share their child's learning journey. The link for bookings is on the school website.  If you are having difficulty booking a time please contact your child's teacher or ring the school office so we can help you.

During the Learning Conversation we will have a short questionnaire for parents to fill in regarding school reports.  It is an ideal time to get your feedback re the reports and what works for you.

Future Newsletters

We will get back into the habit of having our newsletters fortnightly. The next newsletter will be published at the end of  Week 4.

Cheers
