Class of the week: 5/6HK

Numeracy

In Numeracy our focus for the last two weeks has been Angles. Students have investigated the different types of angles and how we measure them. Students then learnt about Complementary and Supplementary angles and how we calculate the angles within them.

An activity students completed was were they were given the letter of their name and then had to create a pattern inside the letter. Once they completed the pattern students had to find and measure all the angles within their pattern. Here are some examples:

Inquiry

Circuits

During our Inquiry unit 'It's Electrifying' students were given the opportunity to create some simple circuits. Using a circuit kit students created circuits including a light, a fan and a buzzer. After building the circuits students needed to draw their circuits using symbols for each component.

Makey Makey

Students also had the opportunity to use Makey Makey circuits. In this activity students created a paper piano! Students had to use the pencil to draw the piano keys, connect their circuits to the paper and then the computer!

Art

The focus for our Visual Arts program has been self portraits. Students have been developing their drawing skills by using a range of materials.

Here our some of our wonderful art works:
