Next Wednesday 8th March, we celebrate International Women’s Day. Our Christian tradition is filled with examples of women of faith and courage who had to fight against a lack of respect from others and were not seen as equal.

There are also many women who rose up and challenged the way things were. As Christians we believe that God made us all equal. God wants us all to have the same rights, privileges, opportunities and chances in our world.

May we be inspired by those women in our lives who are models of respect – those women who show us how to treat everyone as equal.

There are also many amazing women right in our midst including all our wonderful mums, grandmas, aunties and friends. We are also grateful for the many incredible women who are part of our St Louis' community. The prep students in PKD described what a number of these awesome women do at our school.

Let us pray … (pause) …

Loving God, you created men and women in your likeness, equal with each other.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, help us to be amazed, challenged, appreciative and humbled by all the women in our lives, and those who have gone before – all those women who inspire us with their strength, courage, faith and hope.

May we continue to show respect to all people and fight for equality for all. We ask this prayer in Jesus’ name.

Amen.
