Performing Arts

Performing Arts Support

The Primary Performing Arts kit is wearing a bit thin from many years of hard imaginary ‘play’. If anyone is willing to do an amount of simple mending we would really appreciate your help. Contact Sue on: 0417721624. Text is fine.

Violin at Kyabram P-12 College

Recently our Year 3/4 students were treated to a terrific violin demonstration. Year 3/4 received an invitation to join our free ‘come try’ lessons for this age group. Interested students have already returned their application forms and should begin lessons soon. We call the Year 3/4  beginners’ group  STRIVING STRINGS. This group is taught by Mr Peter Read.

We were so pleased to enjoy the music played by Macy O’Dwyer, Christine Esperon, Steph Locke and Maeli Croft.

If you are interested in learning a musical instrument through our school system please ask for the application form at the office. Most spaces are full for 2023 but we can use a waiting list. Enquiries at primary level can go to susan.meeking@education.vic.gov.au

Primary Singers

Our primary level singing group has begun regular rehearsals on a Monday at 2:30 pm. We gather to sing for the enjoyment. Occasionally we prepare for performances. Our first probable community performance will be at ANZAC Day in Kyabram on Tuesday 25 April at the Memorial gardens. This is our way of offering community service. Please let Sue Meeking know if your child is involved in Primary Singers and is unable to attend. Susan.Meeking@education.vic.gov.au

Recorder

Our free recorder lessons began for students in year 4, 5 and 6. As with all musical instruments we encourage practice at home. We thank families for their patience as the early sounds are not always easy to hear but are essential for the students to make progress. The students in recorder learn to read beginner music and so can move on to other instruments later if wanted.
