From the Principal

Hi, everyone!

Well, Term One is well underway and we are all back into the school routines. As usual, there is always lots going on and lots to look forward to.

We have our Athletics Days this week: Years Three to Six on Tuesday and Foundation to Year Two on Friday. Please keep an eye out for Compass alerts in this space. No doubt we will have two fantastic days with lots of fun, house colours, and personal best efforts.

Our information sessions this week have been fantastic and it has been a pleasure to be able to join in all of the year-level meetings. Hopefully, they were all informative and the online platform gave you more flexibility to join in rather than needing to be at school.

We had our 2023 school leaders badge presentation last week and it was fantastic to have the whole school and the wider community back celebrating this occasion. This is the first time some of our students have been able to be part of this event and it is fantastic to be able to bring these traditions back to our community.

We were well represented at the district swimming carnival last week, with Mr Liston attending with a group of our students. There were some ribbons displayed proudly on their return which just added to the fun time the group had whilst there.

In other news, I am currently in negotiations with the council to have a 'kiss and go' element to our Holland Road car park. We hope that this will alleviate some of the congestion that the area experiences. This will replace the five- and two-minute bays we currently have - the ones closest to the school buildings. This will be patrolled by staff as needed, which we anticipate will be more at pick-up time than drop-off times; however, we will respond to the needs as they arise as we want the safety of our students to be paramount at all times. Watch this space and I will let you know as soon as we do.

Our call for School Council nominations to fill our four parent vacancies has been successful with the following people nominating by 4pm on the February 24: Kate Halford, Skylie Massingham, Rael Belterman, Alan Fok, and Ali Zavery.  We will now organise a ballot to finalise the process. Please keep an eye out for further communications in the coming days.
