Pathways Team 2023 – welcome to all returning students!

We welcomed back 72 Alumni students in January to a Melbourne Summer - very different to the wet season in the Top End with its amazing thunderstorms, flashing skies, high humidity, and greening of the land. Thankfully very few students were affected by the devasting floods, and all Top End and Victorian mob returned to Melbourne with smiles and tales of their holiday adventures on Country.

Some of these adventures included paid work on Country, hunting, fishing, travelling to see family and in the case of Jodie Palipuaminni playing for the Tiwi Bombers with her older sister!

To have 50 students in Years 9 to 12 who are committed to continuing their education and opportunities in Melbourne, is fantastic to see – well done!

Partner School News and Alumni

MITS alumni have slotted back into school with uniforms, books, portal passwords and plenty of sport to look forward to.

Marley and Bruce are pictured (left) ready for Year 11 at St Kevin’s College.

Camberwell Girls Grammar School has two new MITS alumni, Emma and Olivia (right) and you can see by their smiles they’re enjoying their new school and ‘crushing it!’

With our largest ever number of students in Melbourne, MITS now has 3 boarding houses on Richmond Hill and one more to open next term. We are grateful for some wonderful Host Families as well our Partner School Boarding Houses who provide a home-away-from-home too.

Firbank Grammar School is host to Jodie, Jenae, Peggy and Sheronica, and again to Lailani and Tenielle (for Term 1) who attend Star of the Sea College.

Methodist Ladies College has welcomed three MITS boarders: Lexi, Keira and Ella.

Pathways Team and Alumni

The Pathways Team work with Partner Schools and students’ families to help students identify their career pathways - this year Alumni are doing a range of certificates and apprenticeships ranging from automotive to animation!

We look forward to the year and working closely with Alumni students, their families, Partner Schools, Host Families, our generous supporters and the wider MITS family in Richmond and further afield to bring our students' dreams to life.
