Welcome to 2023

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the new school year, I hope you had the opportunity to have an enjoyable and meaningful holiday with your family. As the new school year begins, I want to welcome you to the start of another exciting and productive school year. It is my privilege to serve as the principal at SFX for 2023, and I am eager to work with each and every one of you to ensure that our students have a successful school experience.

I want to emphasise the importance of strong partnerships between our school, families, and community. Research shows that when families are actively involved in their children's education, students are more likely to experience academic success and personal growth. I encourage you to be an active participant in your child's education by volunteering, attending school events, and staying informed about what is happening in our school.

Learn, Create, Thrive is our theme for 2023. The theme focuses on the importance of education, creativity, and personal growth. It encourages individuals to learn new skills, use their imagination and talents to create, and use their newfound knowledge and abilities to succeed and thrive. Combining this with our school motto Serviam - I will Serve, will make 2023 a year where we will continue to build meaningful connections with others, give back to our community, and be intentional about experiencing new and exciting things that will contribute to a special year.

This year, we have many exciting initiatives and programs planned for the students. We are also committed to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for our students and to providing a rigorous and well-rounded education, ensuring every child has success.

I encourage parents as well as grandparents to complete the Child Safe Communities (Child Protection) Volunteer Induction course to be able to be involved in the many activities that will run during 2023.

Why do you need to apply and be approved to volunteer in a school?

• We take the safety of children in our schools seriously.

• We take the safety of our volunteers and employees seriously.

• The process is consistent with today’s expectations and standards within the broader community in respect of ensuring education settings are safe places.

Today we had our opening school mass where we farewelled Mrs Morgan who has led our school since 2015. We acknowledged her dedication and commitment to the role. Margaret's hard work has not gone unnoticed and is a source of motivation for us to continue her amazing work.

We also commissioned our student leaders for 2023. Congratulations, to the following students, I am sure that with the support of their year six peers, they will provide some great opportunities for the students.

New staff were also officially welcomed, it was lovely to see so many fresh faces who I am sure will love our community as much as we all do.

This morning's celebration was beautiful with our school community coming together to pray for a successful 2023. I especially thank Miss Isabella Ingegneri for preparing the lovely celebration, Fr Richard for celebrating the Eucharist and all the staff who assisted in ensuring our celebration was reverent and meaningful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or any member of our school staff. I look forward to working with you throughout the school year and to seeing the many successes and achievements of our students.

Kind Regards,

Grace
