Year 11 Physical Education

Students took to the streets of Mentone to assess the walkability of the area. Walkability is a measure of how friendly a neighbourhood is for walking, there are many factors that affect the walkability of an area including the presence of footpaths and how clean or pleasant the environment is. Students have been studying the enablers and barriers of physical activity and have concluded that the streets around the school have a high walkability rating, if you live close to school, talk to your friends about walking to school, such a great way to increase your daily exercise.

Year 10 Outdoor Education

Year 10s had Chad Butterworth from Surfing Victoria run them through a surf rescue session. Looking at the current drowning statics, wave types, safety around the water and basic first aid. The session included the use of virtual reality googles to perform a rescue and basic first aid training.

A reminder to all of us to be safe around the water and swim between the flags.

Year 9 Outdoor Education

Year 9 Outdoor Education students have been exploring the environment at Mentone Beach. Researching the flora and fauna, ocean ecology, human impact, and their personal connection with the environment.
