Principals Report

Welcome to the new school year.  We began with our return to school interviews which were well attended and set a positive tone for the year. Learning Support Mentors are working with students to ensure that all have a ready to learn plan that identifies their learning strengths and areas for development.

Over the summer break there was a lot of work undertaken to fix damage from the storms and floods. The tennis courts have been repaired and we have lovely new carpet in the Year 7-9 Learning communities. More work will be undertaken in the next school holidays.

In the first weeks of the term students were asked to make suggestions on the new names, colours and totems for our newly established communities. After a school wide vote, we are pleased to announce that the students have chosen Campaspe Kookaburras (Green), Goulburn Kangaroos (Blue), and the Murray Turtles (Red).  Each Community is supported by a Community Leader who works in the learning areas, supported by a team of experienced teachers and student leaders. Each morning students attend Learning Support Group (LSG) meetings with their mentor teacher. Your first point of call for all of your child's needs at school should be their LSG mentor.

Year 7 students have transitioned well and have been welcomed to the Echuca College community. They are looking forward to their upcoming camp to ADANAC in the Yarra Junction where they will cement friendships and continue to develop relationships with their significant teachers.

Students and staff have had a busy start to the year with swimming sports, interschool cricket, camps and excursions. You can read about these exciting events further in the newsletter.
