Principal's Message

Liam Buckley

We acknowledge that Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne are situated on the lands of the five language groups that make up the Kulin Nations, who have walked upon and cared for this land for thousands of years. We acknowledge their continued deep spiritual connection and relationship to Country.

We pay respects to their Elders past, present and future, and commit to the ongoing journey of reconciliation.

Lord,

Please keep all children safe and protect them from harm. Cover them in your care and keep them in the safety of your powerful presence.

Give them alertness, spiritual discernment, and wisdom to make the best choices.

We thank you God, as you walk ahead of them, beside them, and behind them.

Amen.

Principal's Message

Welcome back to St Joseph's 2023

I know it gets confusing, but this is the end of Week 2 (according to MACS) so Monday the 6th is the beginning of Week 3!

This has been a great week and a busy week for all concerned here at St Joseph's. Thank to everyone that came along to our Commitment Mass today and joined us for morning tea after. Our Year 6 students were given their leadership badges today and we are looking forward to the positive impact these children have during the year.

We would like to extend a special welcome to our new families and staff members who have joined our community. We are excited to have you as a part of our school and look forward to getting to know you better. Finley joins us in Year 1/2 and we welcome Aleksandar and Nikola back from their time overseas.

We welcome Emma Christiano and Will Hardie who join our amazing LSO team and Mrs Jamee Montebruno who will be teaching Year 1/2.

As you know we will be opening the gates from 8am from now on and students who join us will be supervised by staff. The Wellbeing Room and outdoors will be available. We hope that provides some extra support to our families in the mornings.

Meet the Teacher will be happening (face to face) on Wednesday 8th Feb. (see Operoo). The time differences are to cater for families with children in different classes.

The outdoor toilet block has had some TLC over the summer with lights and locks replaced and a new shiny coat of paint.

Also a huge thank you to Rob Simunic and dad for the amazing fencing and safety measures they provided during the holidays.

Swimming training is happening at Blue-fit Pool on Tulip Street for any Year 3 - 6 students. I'll be there from 7am -8am to put the kids through their paces. Next sessions are Wed 8th, Mon 13th, Wed 15.

WE NEED YOU!

We encourage as many members of the community to get involved with the P&F as it is the most effective ways to have some agency in school run events. Not only that, but it's a great way to meet other parents in the community.

Please look out for an Operoo soon with more information about the P&F. Also huge thanks to Kelly and Trish and team for the work they did in 2022.
