ANZAC Memorial Garden

In PDS senior VCAL, we have been completing projects with the aim to improve the school and our community in any way we can. Our group spent a lot of time mulling over different ideas including topics such as the Good Friday Appeal or Charity work. The idea we all ended up falling in love with was creating an ANZAC Memorial Garden to show our respect for the fallen soldiers and our gratitude for everything that has been done for us. The group have spent weeks discussing a variety of aspects for the garden including the location, size, cost and more importantly how we can create something unforgettable and symbolic. Through our group work we have come in contact with a variety of different business’ in the community, asking for donations and resources and scouting for opportunities which has helped us to create connections that will last us a lifetime. Through the help from some exceptional people at the Dandenong RSL and our local business’ we have been able to see our project come to light. After a successful meeting with our principal for feedback on the project and permission for it to take place, we all left the call with an enthusiastic smile. It was wonderful to see our ideas become reality and to know that we would be recognising all the hard-work and sacrifices made by soldiers in the past so that we could have the privileges that we do today. We aimed to create something for both current and new members of our community and are excited to reveal further information about our projects progress in the near future.
