The Junior School Team (Remember Us?) understand how challenging and difficult online learning has been for students, staff, and families. We congratulate the majority of students for trying to engage each day in your lessons and to stay on top of the work. It has been fabulous to see so many students thrive in their learning by taking a big leap in their learning – putting on their cameras so we can see who we are speaking to, using their microphones to share their ideas, thoughts and responses, and seeking out assistance from their teachers when help is needed. These are extremely important skills to develop as you move through the education system and beyond, and when you begin working.

Congratulations also to our Junior School students who have jumped at the opportunity to be involved in Mr Knowles’ initiative – the Noticeboard for Students – in our Junior School Team, which has included:

  • Tips from Dylan
  • The toilet paper juggling competition set up by Fadak, Miljana, Bahara and Isa– now who did win that?
  • Meditation by Casey
  • Mindfulness drawing by Bahara, Winudi and Mina
  • Movie review by Monson
  • Fitness with Jamin
  • Student artwork with Carrar, Revica, Wedia, Yusra, and Mai
  • Music with Nicky
  • Baking with Chloe
  • Which led to sharing cooking delights with Patrick, Ranita and Fatima

What a talented group of individuals that we have in the Junior School! Keep sharing what you are up to. I might be the inspiration that someone needs.

Subject Selections

Thank you to all our students and families for their recent involvement in the course counselling process. All subject choices are now being crunched together to decide which classes will be running next year, based on your informed choices.

Early next term members of the Junior School team may need to get in contact with you to make minor changes if a subject is unable to run in 2022. Don’t worry because you will still get a chance to select it again for 2023.

Take a break

We ask that you use the upcoming holiday break to get away from technology, devices, and other screens. With the demands of online learning and the improved weather conditions this is the ideal time to re-focus and recharge your energy levels. I encourage you to try something new and different. Here are some examples of things that you could do:

  • Take a walk each day around your local neighbourhood
  • Organise to meet a friend for a picnic at the local park
  • Read a good book
  • Take up gardening and plant some flowers
  • Learn a new skill like knitting, taekwondo, or speaking another language
  • Be a Ninja Warrior and set up your own obstacle course in the backyard. See if you can improve your time or beat your family members
  • Spring clean your bedroom and give it a makeover
  • Make a bowling alley in your home using old plastic bottles
  • Learn some new recipes or cook dinner for the family
  • Get out the board games
  • Camp outside under the stars

We look forward to seeing you on Monday 4 October for the start of Term 4.
