SRC Jeans for Genes Day: $816.25 raised!

Hello Everyone,

On behalf of the SRC team I would like to say that the Jeans for Genes Day was a huge success!

Thank you to all students and staff who wore denim on the day to support the cause, a special mention to those who wore double denim and had some fun.

Together we were able to fund raise a total of $816.25 which will all be donated to the Children's Medical Research Institute to find ways to prevent genetic diseases in children. Your contributions are going to a great cause, and we would like to again thank you for your support of this fantastic event.

The SRC worked hard behind the scenes to provide an opportunity to give back to the community. A big thank you to the Office staff and Sub School Assistants for their assistance on the day. We look forward to next term and another free dress day!

Merit and Equity Training:

Earlier in the term James Goldsmith and Zahra Aqklaqee led the student Merit and Equity training where they led their peers through a seminar about how to be an active member of our student voice team on staff selection panels. Twenty Five students from year 7 – 12 participated in this training which will allow them to provide student voice when hiring new staff for our College community. Thank you to James and Zahra for sharing their experiences and to all trainees – it was fantastic!

Peer Support Thank you:

Over the last semester Peer Support Leaders have been designing and leading weekly sessions to run for our Year 7 Explore students. They engaged in a 2 day leadership training program and have held fortnightly meetings showing their strong ability to communicate and collaborate. This program has been so much fun, students have worked on House Spirit sessions, Bullying Prevention and making a positive connection to our HPSC Community. On behalf of the College, we would like to thank the Peer Support Leaders for their planning, organisation and leadership throughout this program, the growth we have seen in you has been outstanding! A special mention to our Staff House Leaders, Hannah Blackmore, Sue Fernando, Georgia Riley and Ben Wilson for their hard work behind the scenes in supporting this fantastic program.
