Learning & Teaching

What are we learning about at HS?

Book Week

I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the outstanding work each family did during Book Week. Thank you for celebrating this event with us. We loved bringing our celebrations to a close with our Book Week Assembly on Friday. It was lovely to see so many families in so many different costumes.

I also wanted to acknowledge the work of Beth during Book Week. The extra videos, costumes (I think we got up to 7 costumes!!), artworks and effort that was put in was so appreciated. I know I speak for many when we say how lucky we are to have such a passionate teacher teaching our students.

If you have any photos or videos, please send them to me via email or Dojo to showcase at assembly this week.

Google Site

Thank you for everything you are doing during Remote Learning. If you are stuck at home and are looking for more to do, there are lots of activities on our school's Remote Learning Google Site:

Digital Progress Portfolios

This year our portfolios have moved to an online space using Dojo Portfolios forPrep - Year 6.

Over the coming weeks and into next term you will receive one learning sample for identified subject areas, via Dojo Portfolio. These learning samples will be sent home in a gradual release model over different weeks. Due to the remote learning period, the weeks in which these samples will be sent home will vary depending on the year levels. Each level will inform our parents when a portfolio is ready to be viewed via a message on the Year Level Dojo account.

You will receive one learning sample, from your child/children, within the areas of English, Mathematics, Education in Faith (RE) and Inquiry Learning.

The student learning pieces may be in the form of text (writing), a photo or a video, and will contain:

  • a Title of the learning piece,
  • a Learning Intention and Success Criteria for the task and
  • a teacher comment.

This teacher comment will link specifically to the success criteria for the task, and will provide you with where this work sample is placed in relation to the 5-point scale of Below Standard, Working Towards Standard, At Standard, Above Standard and Well Above Standard.

Parent comments are encouraged and appreciated and can be completed on each of the learning pieces that you receive via Dojo Portfolio.

Please take the time to read, enjoy, view and celebrate the digital portfolio pieces with your child. They have worked extremely hard on their learning this term and will be excited to share this time with you.

Fingers crossed we are back together soon. We really miss seeing our students in 3D!!

Keep smiling!
