Australian History Competition

During Term Two a number of secondary students entered the Australian History Competition.  This is an opportunity for students to participate in an interesting and challenging challenge.  Thank you to all the girls who took up the opportunity. 

Congratulations to Emma Sullivan of Year 9 who gained a High Distinction.  In addition, the following received Distinctions: Willa Johnson (Year 8), Charlotte Bateman, Jessica Bray, Avalon Forbes, Amelia Wiggins (Year 9) and Amelia Olencewicz (Year 10).  

Term 3 is full of opportunities for those students who are gifted, talented or highly able to show their understandings through participating in the many competitions on offer.  

In the Primary School we recently had 26 of our most proficient mathematic students from Years 3 - 6 participate in the Australian Mathematics Competition.  This competition is run both nationally and internationally and is a very challenging competition.  Congratulations to the students chosen and we eagerly await your results.

The ICAS competition began this week with the Digital Technologies competition for Years 3 - 6 students wishing to participate. The Mathematics, Science and English competitions for Years 2 - 6 will occur throughout this month. Good luck to all the girls participating.

Some Year 6 girls have been chosen to enter the "My Place" competition.  The 2021 My Place Competition asks students to reflect on life in their own communities. Students are invited to submit a short piece of creative writing that captures the diverse history of their own local area. This could include narratives, historical recounts, letters, diary entries, news reports, poetry, or other forms of creative writing.  We look forward to reading these entries.

Tournament of the Minds Competition is being held on the Saturday 4 September with 28 students from Year 4 through to Year 10 participating.  You will find further information about the competition on the following page.

Many classes will be participating in an Arcadia Box Challenge during the term.  Stay posted for further information.
