Year 3 Homework Challenge
For homework last week, the Year 3 students were challenged to spend less, or no, time on their electronic devices after school. They were to record activities that they did instead. At the end of the week, the girls wrote a reflective journal entry. Below are some of their entries.
Instead of playing on my device, I set the table, danced in the kitchen, and made lots of crafts.
Ruby Sproule
This week we were challenged to not go on our device. While I was not on my iPad, I got lots of stuff done like my homework and I slept better than before the challenge.
Emmerson Wiggins
I will keep some of the changes like going outside or tidying my room or doing something I like. I will still watch some TV from time to time. I learned that you shouldn’t be on the iPad as much because it’s bad for you and it’s not healthy.
Indi Fraser
I have enjoyed this week without my device. I’ve been on my device less than I do normally. I took Billie, our dog, for a walk with Mum on Monday and went to the Tessellated Pavement on Thursday.

Year 4 Maths
This week in Year 4 we have been learning about what is a tessellation and what are the three rules of tessellation. The students were then able to demonstrate their learnings about tessellations through art. Here is some of our work in progress!
Year 5 Navy
In 5 Navy we probed into parts of the Solar System by exploring Supernovas and Nebulae and had fun learning how to write poetry. We learned that a supernova is a powerful and luminous stellar explosion which occurs during the last evolutionary stages of a massive star and that a nebula is an enormous cloud of dust and gas that occupies the space between stars and acts as a nursery for new stars.
We also learned about Poetry and Personification and how to arrange words and phrases to create sounds and characters that come to life.
Planetoid - Supernova by Lily Cherry Heavenly blood True evilness appears at night. She goes kaboom Colours flood out She’s gone in a blink of an eye. All that’s left are the stars she left behind in a dark disturbing voice. “Haha look at your face! “ | Nebula - Glimmer by Evie Bruce Explosive Vibrant Dynamic Carries glints of colour A splash of rain Here one minute Gone the next In an echoing voice “Be brighter than ever!” |
Supernova - Aurora by Bronwyn Agius Glowing with curiosity Attention grabbing. Blindingly and clumsily finding its way Carrying a bucket full of compliments. Cultured voice Musically says, “ Look at me, look at me” | Nebula - Adhara by Sienna Gustafsson A bright star Carrying a shimmering silver sword Sees everything Her voice urgent Brittle Kind but scared Tries to keep calm She is a Guardian Angel. That says, “Be strong” |
Nebula - Canopus by Scarlett McShane She moves like water crashing She carries a bag of bouncy clouds. Pure gold when shining at night Sounds like rusty nails While saying, “I shine bright like a star.” |
Jump Rope For Heart Update
We are into our second week of Jump Rope For Heart and the primary school has already surpassed their goal of raising $5,000, by raising $7,631.29 so far. This is an incredible effort and we cannot wait to give another update in 2 weeks time. So please don't forget to register and keep sending those donations through as we will be wrapping things up on Friday 3 September with a primary skip-a-thon.
Congratulations to sisters Charlie (Year 4) and Bella Seeber-Peattie (Year 2) who are aiming to raise $1,000 together for the Heart Foundation. On the weekend they took their skipping ropes to the Farm Gate Market and managed to raise funds towards this goal.
New Jump Rope for Heart Competition - Win one of five $100 Coles Myer gift cards.
Between Tuesday 10 August and Thursday 12 August, for every $25 you raise online via your child’s Jump Rope for Heart page, you will earn an entry into the draw to win one of five $100 Myer Gift Cards.
