A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Dear Parents and Carers,

Learning from Home

Thank you to our families for supporting learning from home for another week. It has been lovely to talk to our students in the daily zoom meetings and to also see some great work samples.Teachers are keen to keep in touch and help wherever possible, so if your child is struggling or unsure of a learning task please email your child’s teacher. Our aim is to make learning from home as stress free as possible. We understand it is hard for parents who are supervising children and trying to work from home as well. So please just do what you can. Hopefully we will be back in school next week!

Principals’ Meeting

The recent principals’ meeting gave me the opportunity to learn more about strategic planning for school improvement. Our diocese is being proactive and forward thinking by seeking ways to ensure the Catholic Education provided today and in the future meets the needs of an ever evolving world. The diocese has established a new Catholic Schools' Council and selected experts with extensive experience in education, finance, government and research to be council members. With input from this council, we spent time examining the challenges of education such as staffing rural schools, maintaining enrolment numbers and providing a relevant curriculum that prepares students with the skills required to be confident and successful citizens.

What does this mean for our school in Quirindi? We need to continue to deliver engaging learning experiences and strive to always improve the quality education we offer each student. We need a clear vision. At St Joey’s we believe every child can learn to a high standard given the right environment and support. We acknowledge education is a partnership between families and the school community. We promote the benefits of setting aspirational, yet achievable goals. We use data to inform our next steps in teaching. We take time to celebrate our successes and reflect on what we can improve. Together we can achieve great things!

Please take a moment to view the photos of our new school signage in the General News section of this newsletter.

Take care and reach out if you need help,
