Assistant Principal's Report
Mr Mark Henderson
Dear Students, Parents and Carers,
I hope this article finds you well, as well as can be in this, our 6th lockdown in Victoria. The level of resilience that students have shown and are continuing to show in the face of adversity is a credit to you, their families, their support people, who continue to support them in their education even in our sixth spell of remote learning.
Our teachers have done a wonderful job of continuing to run engaging lessons and provide support to our students as they, like many of our families, have had to juggle family commitments and the teaching of classes every day.
One thing that is becoming clearer to me as we continue to work and learn remotely is just how much I underappreciate the interactions I have with staff and students every day at school. I miss walking through the yard, standing at the gate, saying hello, helping someone with something, and just checking in with everyone, every day.
The small interactions or conversations are what brings the most joy in my role at the College and I cannot wait to be back at school, seeing our amazing students and staff face-to-face again. I am grateful to be a member of the Westall community and I would not want to be riding the wave of lockdowns with anyone else.
See you soon 😊

On Thursday 26 August, Ms Paget, Mr Lanarus, Ms Grey and I hosted a Welcome Night for the parents and carers of new students joining us in Year 7 in 2022. Although we had to run the event via Zoom, it was great to see and interact with the new members of the Westall SC community. Parents, carers and students were provided with some key information, aimed at making the transition to secondary school as smooth as possible.
All information regarding Year 7 in 2022, including the video recording of Welcome Night, can be found at https://www.westallsc.vic.edu.au/year-7-2022
Other upcoming dates for Year 7 2022:
For those of you with family members or friends with children transitioning from Year 6 to Year 7 for 2022 and who are undecided on the destination school, we still have places available in Year 7.
If you know someone considering Westall SC for their child, ask them to click here or scan the QR code below to arrange a personalised tour of the College, or ask them to call me on 9546 3233.
You may recall that the College submitted a plan to build a roof over the new hard courts, earlier in the year? Well, the school has done everything we can do to get this project underway. It is currently waiting on final approval from the Victorian Government, then we will be able to start the build. We will keep you posted on our progress!
On the first Wednesday of Term 3, the iCreate Aviation class of 2020/21 went indoor skydiving at Essendon. As part of the program, students took part in a STEM workshop and practical demonstrations, linking all of our aviation theory to something practical. Everyone showed courage and really enjoyed the experience, even the adventure on public transport.
