Welcome Back
Welcome back, everybody, to what I hope will be an enjoyable and successful year for every member of our school community. It has been really nice catching up with all of the students and hearing about the fantastic adventures. There were cinema trips, birthday parties, holidays of all shapes and sizes and tonnes of ice cream and gelato consumed! Last week, I visited all of the classes and was very aware of all of the smiling faces on the students in our school. It was clear that they were delighted to be back so they could catch up with friends, make new ones and get on with the business of learning.
The beginning of a school year brings lots of change – new classrooms, new teachers, new protocols and systems, new expectations and, for our students in Years 4, 5 and 6, a new playground. Having had a nice break, the students are bound to be very tired. Their bodies are getting used to eating at snack time again, not whenever they want. They have to adjust to their alarm clock waking them up in the morning and not the sun shining through the window. They are super busy concentrating in class and then concentrating on the exciting games in the yard. Please be mindful of all of these demands they are trying their best to respond to when planning their evenings and weekends for the next few weeks. They are going to need lots of downtime, lots of healthy food and lots of sleep.
Inclusion Team
Our Inclusion Team has also experienced some changes this year. Mrs. Freeman has taken Term 1 off on Long Service Leave, Mrs. Bray has returned from her parental leave and we have a brand new integration aide on the team – Mr. Tynan. Mrs. Sargent, Mrs. Hoey, Mrs. Stoner and Mrs Galban continue on the team and, altogether, they work hard to ensure the students receive the appropriate support in their classrooms.

Snapshot Survey
The Parent Club are currently running a survey to ascertain the general feeling of the Kingswood Parent Community regarding the introduction of a $100 Fundraising Levy. This levy, if introduced, will replace all fundraising activities run by the Parent Club. Services, such as Mother’s and Father’s Day breakfasts and stalls, will continue as the aim of those events is not to raise money but to increase community engagement and to create a sense of community for the students and their families. Please take the time to watch the video created by the Parent Club and then respond to the one question Snapshot Survey – Would you support an annual $100 Fundraising Levy to replace fundraising activities? Each family is asked to respond once only before 5pm on Monday, February 12th.
