Tertiary Aspiration Excursion

On Thursday the 17th of October, a group of 50 Year 9 students were fortunate to attend Swinburne University for a Tertiary Aspiration Program. The day consisted of participating in a range of workshops led by Swinburne teaching staff. Students were able to:

-          practise their Photoshop skills in the Mac computer lab

-          use tools involved in the plumbing industry

-          observe the process involved in engineering metal products

-          tour the propagation and horticulture faculty

-          landscape an area involving preparing the surface and laying the new materials

A focus on the learning and skills involved in each of the fields was at the forefront of each session. The day afforded students the opportunity to experience a range of trade-related courses and consider the pathways and careers associated with each of the diverse fields. A pizza lunch during the break was enjoyed by all and one of the highlights was selecting succulents and tomato plants to take home from the propagation session. Thank you to all staff and students involved in the organisation and participation on the day.
