Bill Turner Football

On Friday 29 March the boys' Under 15 Football players competed in Round 1 of the Bill Turner Cup Football against Carinya Christian School of Tamworth. In a great game of Football, the boys came away with a 3-1 victory. It was a really solid team effort with each player contributing to the success of the team. Their passing and ball control was very good and the boys were well in control of the game against a committed opponent. A big thank you to Mr Ronny Rindo who has been training and coaching the players. We now look forward to the Round 2 game, which will be played on Monday, 13 May.

The team included; Brayden Boonstra, Kilian Apen, Eoin Shepherd, William Albertson, Jack Stanton, Brady Painter, Augustin Monet, Connor Budden, Louis Johnson, Benjamin O’Connor, Ethan Ross, Achille Monet, Seamus Shepherd, Edward Williams and Frederick Williams

Last Friday, Connor Roberts, Edward George, Daisy George, Lyndell Boschma, Isabella Bolsom, Sienna Marzato, Clementine Monet , Augustin Monet and Achille Monet joined the Armidale Diocesan team of 21 swimmers at Sydney Olympic Park to participate in the third level of school competition, CCC Swimming.  Our swimmers completed well and broke a few PB's.  Connor won 4 gold and 2 silver medals. He came first in the 100m Backstroke, 200m Individual Medley, 100m Butterfly and the 100m Breaststroke with some amazing personal bests. Additionally, he came second in the 400m Freestyle and 50m Breastroke.  Achille third placed  in the 50m Breastroke.

Both Connor and Achille qualified to swim at the All Schools' competition on May 14 in Sydney.

Good luck to them!

Well done to all these swimmers for their hard work at training and their good results! Thank you to Mrs Oriane Monet for acting as Team Manager for the Diocese and supporting our swimmers in Sydney.

NSW Northern Rugby League trials

On Wednesday 3 April, Clay Frendin and Nicholas Taggart represented the Armidale/Lismore Diocese at the Northern Open’s Rugby League trials at Smithtown. Clay played well in the limited opportunities he had, and was very unlucky to miss out on higher selection. Clay’s dedication to training and fitness will mean that he will have a big future in the game. Nicholas played really well in the trials, and was heavily involved.  His strong performance resulted in his selection in the Northern NSW Opens team to compete in the NSW CCC Rugby League Championships later in the term. Congratulations to both players who represented McCarthy Catholic College with pride at this high level.

Bill Turner Shield

On Monday 8 April, the Under 15 Bill Turner Shield girls' Football team travelled to Oxley High School to compete against Oxley. Many girls who were not regular players stepped in and acquitted themselves well.  Oxley High School had an experienced team and were run away winners, but our girls can be proud of the manner in which they played and the sportsmanship that they showed.

Again thank you to Mr Ronny Rindo for volunteering his time in coaching the team.  The team included; Lauren Daye, Jazmyn Pearson, Erin Allan, Clare Cavallaro, Clementine Monet, Tayla Johnson, Abigail Burr, Emma Percy, Matilda Barton and Mackensey Kerr.
