Uniform Matters

With the onset of cooler weather, it is expected that all students are in full winter uniform by Monday Week 5. In the meantime, students may transition to winter uniform if required.  A reminder the full winter uniform is required, for example, ties need to be worn.

The requirements for the SPORT uniform are:

  • Sport shirt (house colour band around sleeve) – Year 11 and 12 students are still allowed to wear old style version until the end of their time at the College. All other students should now in the new version.
  • Sport shorts (new ones available from Lowes – note that they have ‘MCC’ embroidered on bottom corner) - Year 11 and 12 students are still allowed to wear old style shorts until the end of their time at the College. All other students should now in the new version.
  • White socks only above the ankle
  • Joggers - no skate shoes
  • Hat/cap for practical lessons.

Uniform supplies are available from Lowes, or second hand items can be accessed through the College's Clothing Pool. The opening times are listed on the back page of the newsletter.  If any families require assistance in accessing the winter uniform, please don't hesitate to contact me at sstuart@arm.catholic.edu.au.

The wearing of the College uniform should reflect the pride students have as members of the McCarthy community. One area of concern presently is bright, unnaturally coloured hair.  The College policy states that students who choose to colour their hair must use a natural hair colour or natural highlights. We are enlisting the support of parents and students in adhering to this policy.

Staying Healthy

It is inevitable with 950 people in one area, that illnesses like the flu will occur. A reminder to parents, to avoid the influenza virus spreading, please keep your child at home if they show symptoms of the flu. It is important to get better in a warm, home environment, rather than soldier on at school. If a student has an assessment task due, and they are unwell, a doctors certificate is required. For senior students, they must additionally have a parent ring through to the College office on the day of the due task.
