CROSS COUNTRY

On Friday, Years three to six went to Murphy's Reserve to run our Cross Country race. We split into our house teams and got prepared for our races.

The 12/13 girls were then called to the starting line to begin our three kilometre race. We were all really nervous but at the same time we were excited and couldn’t wait to start the race. We ran once around the oval, twice around the entire of Murphy’s Reserve and finally once around the oval to finish our race off.

I was at the start line, my race was the 11 year old boys Cross Country race. In a flash, the start gun shot off and we were running. I was leading out of the oval, I wanted to up the ante and I really did. I powered through the race with one goal in mind - to get to the next marshal through the point. While three kilometres might be tiring for some, I didn’t feel any tiredness. I went on to the second lap leading by a fair bit and increased it as I went on. I came on to the final lap with my house team, Carmels Blue, cheering me on as I finished my race. I was relieved when I crossed the line, due to the huge amount of nervousness before the race. Then I cheered on my friends as they completed their race too.

Last Friday, Years Three to Six went to Murphy's Reserve for our Cross Country race. I was in the 9/10 boys race. My race was two kilometres long but it felt much, much longer. I started the race well and I led my group to the finish line. I came first and had a lot of fun. Overall I thought the morning went well and it was organised nicely.

It was a fantastic day and we all had a lot of fun. Thank you to all of the teachers for looking after us throughout the entire day and to all of the parents that came to cheer us on. Thank you to Mr Tobin for organising the day.  A very special congratulations to all of the students that participated.

GALILEE VS ST MARY'S

After the cross country on Friday, Galilee, the best school ever with the great Mr Tobin, played against the also decent St.Mary's in AFL. The incredible Galilee was there two hours before the match which was very boring. We were practicing for so long that we were tired. When the decent St.Mary's arrived they looked very threatening (they are now threatening St. Mary's) and tall.

As soon as the game started, they kicked a goal. We were very depressed. All of Galilee stared in amazement at how decent and threatening St. Mary's were. In that quarter they scored 5 goals.

In the next quarter we got it into our half a bit more but they still scored heaps of goals.

In the next quarter we got it into our half so much that we scored a point (this is where you should be clapping)! Again they scored a lot of goals (don't clap).

In the last quarter, Joe managed to score a goal (clap your head off). In the end, the now super team beat us.

Thank you Mr. Tobin and thank you parents for cheering us.

Performing Arts Report

Last week in Performing Arts, 1F had to perform tap. They obviously had a great time but what did they do? 1F started off their lesson by taking off their shoes. The class began by stretching so they wouldn’t get hurt. They did dynamic stretches (dynamic strength is the ability to apply a force repeatedly over a period of time) and static stretches (static stretching is your ability to hold a pose without movement).

After doing these stretches, 1F eyeballed Miss Carnovale and followed along with her moves. Thus, the tap dancing begun! A few tap dance movements that 1F did were: the shuffle (this is where you just shuffle your feet and it makes a noise) and the shuffle hop (this is where you shuffle your feet and then hop. Of course, this makes a noise as well).

Thank you for reading! If you or your child have any suggestions for Performing Arts, please feel free to come to us (the PA leaders). We would love to hear any idea!
