SMR Regional Final Champions - Intermediate Softball Girls

Wednesday 2nd May was the intermediate SMR regional finals for softball. We were given an invitation to compete on the day and each of the girls outperformed.

We played against Nossal in the first game, winning 14-3. Shaan, Cherry and Sasha were an excellent team, making many of the outs for the game.

Our second game saw us play against McKinnon. Even with a faster pitcher, Amy-Lee managed to hit three, three base hits scoring several runs. We won 12-2 and secured our spot in the grand final.

We played the grand final against Mac Rob. We knew it was going to be a tough game but the girls did not falter. Coline managed to steal several bases at a time. Jenna, as our catcher for the day, did a fabulous job making several outs. Devanshi and Gabi finished off the final innings with a double play and a great catch in the outfield. The girls won the grand final  11-6 and are the SMR Regional champions. Congratulations to the entire team on their efforts today. Stay tuned for the state finals...

SMR Regional Finals - Year 8 Girls Softball

The SMR regional finals for Year 8 softball girls took place on Thursday 3rd May. This is the second year in a row that the team is competing in the finals.

Donning our distinct red socks and tops, we set out for Kingston Heath Reserve. Our first game was against Dandenong. We managed to shake off the nerves early on and bat extremely well. Some excellent plays between Tess, Phoebe and Ashleigh helped secure our win, 12-3.

Our second game we played Alkira, a school we competed against last year. Even with a fast pitcher, the girls were patient and disciplined in their batting. We were able to score many runs in the first innings giving us a comfortable lead. We had several excellent plays in the field and ultimately won 12-3.

We then progressed into the grand final against EMC. It was a tough game but the girls worked together to score two runs early on. We managed to have loaded bases several times but couldn't quite convert those into runs. In the final innings, we managed to make 5 runs, but the score reverted due to an incomplete innings. Ultimately, EMC proved too strong and the final score was 5-2.

Congratulations to the entire team and thank you to Zoe (Year 10) for assisting with the coaching.
