From the 2018 Visual Arts Captains
I am so incredibly grateful for the position of Visual Arts Captain of 2018. To me, this position means that I have the opportunity to extend the outlook of the ‘Visual Art’ department at Glen Eira College.
As an art student, myself, I feel as though it would be amazing to see the growth of students' work and have them recognised throughout the school. I also feel like it would be a great opportunity for me to be involved in organising events and promoting the school’s art programs. Throughout this year I aim to get more students involved in a variety of different activities and events. This will not only apply to school but to community events as well. I hope to try and appeal to a wider audience than just students who already do art as a subject, by introducing activities throughout lunchtimes as part of the ‘Arts Club’ at school.
I hope this year Zac and I can create a positive and encouraging environment throughout the Visual Arts department and we look forward to the responsibility this position holds.
Sierra Danon
Year 11
I am very excited that I am one of the Visual Arts Captains for 2018. The Visual Arts Captain means being a role model for students who attend GEC; by helping and encouraging those students who have a love for art.
I hope to be a positive influence for our school, in which Sierra Danon and I will encourage students in art by involving them and their artwork to be on show at the Visual Arts/Technology exhibition at the end of the year. We will also encourage new students to the school to express themselves through art by displaying the Art Department during Open Night at the school.
I am excited to start a new art club for GEC students to join because I feel art is a great way for students to express their thoughts and emotions. I will help to display different and unique art pieces during Arts/Technology week and the annual Arts/Technology exhibition. Be sure to look on the GEC HUB and/or school newsletter to find out about the fun and exciting clubs and events within the Visual Arts faculty.
