ANZAC Day Commemorations

ANZAC Day Service

To commemorate ANZAC Day, on Tuesday 24th April the college conducted an all school ANZAC Service. Staff and students paid their respects to honour the fallen and those who have served in all conflicts.

Students who are members of Army and Air Force Cadets formed the guard. Under the command of Cadet Sergeant Connor McCaskie we have front rank, Ivan Au-Yeung, Cherry Teddu, Alexander Leathley, rear rank, Dhugal Leathley, and Jarrod Kiss.

Our special guest speaker  was David Petersen, who served for 11 years in the Australian Regular Army. Following graduation from the Royal Military College - Duntroon, David completed numerous postings across Australia and the United States as an Artillery Officer.

David is a veteran of Australians longest running military campaign in Afghanistan (2012) and has been awarded the Australian Active Service Medal (International Coalition Against Terrorism), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Australian Defence Medal, North Atlantic Organisation Medal (ISAF) and the Army Combat Badge.

David was medically discharged from the ADF in 2017.

David now works with beyondblue as a Project Manager for a national suicide prevention service called ‘The Way Back’. David is the Vice President of the Camberwell City RSL and is a strategic advisor to a disaster response organisation called Team Rubicon Australia.

Our school captains gave readings followed by the laying of wreaths by David Petersen and the school captians. The Australian National Anthem was sung by Izzy McFarland and the New Zealand National Anthem was sung by Daijan Denney.
