Guyra Central School’s Touch Football team played with exceptional sportsmanship in very hot conditions winning 2 games and having 1 draw of the 5 games played at the carnival earning themselves 3rd place overall, narrowly missing out on 2nd place and progressing to the next level of the competition by 1 point. YEARS 7/8 ALL SCHOOLS TOUCH CARNIVAL
Years 7/8 students attended Inverell on Tuesday 18th September to compete in the 7/8 All Schools Touch Carnival
The Guyra Girls had a wonderful day playing 4 pool round matches. Their first game was the hardest, up against Bundarra, they went down 9-1. The girls kept their spirits up and improved both their skills and cooperation as a team with each and every game. In the second round they defeated Inverell High 2-1, Macintyre High 3-1 and were defeated by Holy Trinity 1-3. This was a great experience for the girls as many of them have not played competitive touch before.
The boys played 5 round matches in total defeating Macintyre High 7-1, Inverell High 9-1, Macintyre High again 10-0 and Holy Trinity 3-1. Holy Trinity defeated Guyra in their final game 3-5. These fantastic results earned the boys a spot in the Semi Finals playing against Moree High School, Guyra Central School had a convincing win 10-4. In the Grand Final Guyra Central School met up again with Holy Trinity. Holy Trinity defeated Guyra Central School 3-1, this was a fantastic game to watch, played with great team spirit and sportsmanship.
