Year 3 after school care is moving next Monday

Beginning Monday 17/06/19,  the Biz – E – Kidz Year 3 students will be moving to join the ‘Seniors’ in the ‘Flex’.(Southside) for after school care.

As part of the ‘Seniors’ aftercare program, the children will have access to:

  • the Southside play area and downstairs of the ‘Flex’
  • programs and equipment specifically designed for older children, including art and craft, games, etc
  • cooking and the grassketball courts through daily visits to the northside
  • a dedicated supervised Homework and chill out space located in the Library.

To get ready, Biz – E – Kidz educators have been speaking to the children about the move and the response has been really positive. Families can help by speaking to children about the move to remind them over the coming week. On the first days of the move we plan to have announcements to remind children where to go, additional educators on hand and compass alerts for families.

Before school care and the holiday program will still be located in the Biz – E – Kidz Building.

Frequently Asked Questions about how the changes to Biz-E-Kidz will affect Prep Students

Q. How will the children get to Biz-E-Kids?

A. Biz-E-Kidz (BEK) staff will continue to collect the Prep Students at around 3:15 and give them name tags. They will then be taken to the BEK building, where they will put away their bags, wash their hands and eat afternoon snack, provided by BEK.

Q.How will the Prep children be accounted for on arrival?

A.The co-ordinator for the day will mark the Prep Students off on the roll, before 3:30, while they are having afternoon snack.

Q.How will they learn the new boundaries/rules/routines?

A. While the Prep Students are adjusting to the change in location and routine, they will be taken to the gym at 3:30, when the Grade 1 & 2 students arrive at the BEK building. During this time they will be given information about the daily routine and activities. Then they will participate in structured games and activities and/or free play. During the transition phase the co-ordinators will also conduct daily induction tours and games covering boundaries, rules and facilities.

Q. How will they be kept track of/safe during the afternoon?

A. At least during the transition period, BEK staff will be allocated specifically to looking after and keeping track of all Prep Students while they explore and become familiar the wider BEK space, interact with the older children and learn the new routines and rules.

Q. Will they still get to participate in the same activities?

A. As part of BEK in the larger, purpose-built space, the Prep Students will have access to a wider variety of craft, structured outdoor games and sports, as well as more indoor and outdoor equipment and spaces for free time and developmental play. In time there will also be opportunities to take part in cooking sessions with the older children.
